In the ninth inning of last night's mlb game, Mike Trout broke his bat on a single to center. The broken piece of his bat went directly through umpire Nate Tomlinson's mask and cut his face. This is just a reminder that no matter how much safety equipment is put in place, these kind of accidents can happen. If the bat piece would have been maybe a half inch over, the ump could have lost an eye. Tomlinson walked off with blood on his face.
