For fans of the NFL, the LA Chargers secret weapon may surprise you. Why? Because a lot of attention goes toward Jim Harbaugh and his interesting Jim Harbaugh-ish quotes at his press conferences. And the rest of fan's attention span goes toward quarterback Justin Herbert.

Conventional wisdom thinks Harbaugh is a great coach and Herbert and the Chargers had been woefully underperforming prior to Harbaugh's arrival. Many expected a positive turn around with the new coach-quarterback combo in LA. And with one more win the Chargers will have matched their win total from a year ago. So things are trending upward.

LA CHARGERS SECRET WEAPON

But what is the LA Chargers Secret Weapon, exactly?

Defensive coordinator Jesse Minter. The Chargers have the top scoring defense in the league so far, giving up just 13 points per game. And that is without the team's best defensive player Joey Bosa who has been out with a bad hip since Week 3.

Minter arrived with Harbaugh from Michigan. He is one of the best in the business and his prowess from college football has transitioned with him to the NFL. His masterful scheme and play calling was on full display when Michigan shut down quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and Washington's high flying passing attack in the college football national championship.
