It's been just days since Hurricane Milton made landfall in Sarasota and a great feel good story is that Tampa's Lt. Dan was gifted $100k for a new boat.
While we were all preparing for Hurricane Milton's arrival this week getting our last minute supplies and gas, putting up boards and shutters and evacuating, there was one man who wasn't worried about at thing and that's Lt. Dan from Tampa. Lt. Dan got his nickname from the movie Forrest Gump, as he too is an amputee. He was on his sailboat and refused to evacuate before the storm. Tell me that's not the ultimate Florida Man thing to do. I'm happy to report that Lt. Dan is fine and in fact, he'll be even better soon as he just got an incredible gift from an online streamer.
Tampa's Lt. Dan Gifted $100k For A New Boat After Hurricane Milton
Kick streamer Adin Ross invited Lt. Dan, whose real name is Joseph Malinowski, onto his livestream the other day just as Hurricane Milton was starting to get bad and during the 18 minute interview he shared stories about his life and why he was planning to stick it out on his boat.
At the end of the stream, Adin Ross told Lt. Dan that he would pay for a new boat up to $100k and also a streaming deal on Kick to "stream his entire voyages and adventures." Lt Dan's reaction was priceless saying that this was his dream and how excited he is.
But of course anytime anyone does something nice there have to be people that are negative. Wide Open Country reports that now Adin Ross is facing criticism saying that by doing this it sends a message of recklessness that he's being rewarded for putting his safety in jeopardy.
No matter, he's changing Lt. Dan's life in a big way and I'm excited to see what he does with this opportunity.
