Reports: Miami Not Giving Up on Christian Wilkins and Robert Hunt

Miami Not Giving Up on Christian Wilkins and Robert Hunt

The deadline to apply the Franchise Tag in the NFL has come and gone. And two prominent members of the Miami Dolphins will become free agents: Christian Wilkins and Robert Hunt. This normally means that they are as good as gone. But some reports on Wednesday morning are the Miami is not giving up on Christina Wilkins and Robert Hunt coming back. Interior linemen usually do not garner the attention that Miami's duo is attracting. But for a team who has to shake the "soft" label, losing two physical players does not send the right message. Here are the reports that Miami is not giving up on Christian Wilkins and Robert Hunt with Free Agency approaching.

Christian Wilkins

Wilkins is arguably the heart of the Miami Dolphins. Many fans are upset the the team is seemingly letting him walk. However that might not be the case. On Wednesday morning Wilkins' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, would not shut the door on 94 returning to the team. While on The Joe Rose Show in Miami Rosenhaus said in regards to the Dolphins "...they'll be really aggressive to bring him back... They'll be very competitive with other teams". Wilkins is sure to have many suiters; the Raiders, Lions, and Texans have all been linked with the pro-bowler's services. At this point it seems unlikely that Christian Wilkins will be back in Miami. But the door remains ajar.

Robert Hunt

Robert Hunt might be the more important player to bring back. That is in no way a shot at Wilkins, but keeping a franchise quarterback upright is the most important task in football. Hunt is a very good interior lineman on Tua's blind side. He was never really a candidate to get the franchise tag. His contract with Miami might be coming to an end, but he's still close to the organization. In fact he was at the facility on Wednesday morning. Is that to get a workout in? Or maybe his signature is needed on a new contract? Who knows, but to post a photo at the team facility seems like he is trying to get a message out to the fans.
