Reptile Road Trip: Florida Man Busted with an Alligator Passenger

In a bizarre roadside encounter, a Florida man was pulled over with a live alligator passenger secretly stashed in his trunk.

It was a routine patrol in Dixie County, a typical day in the life of law enforcement, when suddenly, the spotlight turns to an unexpected star...None other than a small alligator passenger chilling in the back of a GMC SUV.  Now when it comes to road trip companions, leave the alligators out of the equation. Sure, they might seem like cool, low-maintenance travel buddies, but trust me, letting a gator ride shotgun is a one-way ticket to court.

According to FOX35, it was on NE 227 Ave. in Cross City when a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer was summoned to the scene.  The driver, David Godfrey, had a strange companion riding shotgun. A three-foot gator snugly tucked away in a burlap sack in the trunk.

Now, before you jump to conclusions, Godfrey had an alibi ready. He claimed to have heroically rescued the scaly fellow from an impending disaster on a paved road near the county jail. The man feared the little gator might become roadkill, and nobody wants that on their conscience.

Reptile Rescue For The Alligator Passenger:

Godfrey soon spilled the beans to the FWC officer, confessing his knowledge of the legal mumbo-jumbo surrounding alligator possession. Yet, here he was, caught red-handed with an unauthorized gator stash.

Our hero (or perhaps anti-hero) faced the consequences as he was slapped with charges for the unlawful possession of an alligator. A notice to appear in Dixie County court was the not-so-glamorous prize for his wildlife misadventure. Meanwhile, the confiscated alligator, after a quick photoshoot for evidence purposes, found itself released into the wild or at least a safer, alligator-friendly area.

In the realm of bizarre roadside tales, this one takes the cake. Remember, if you're going to play wildlife rescuer, make sure you're not breaking the law while doing it.

Florida Man Mike Dragich Captures 10 Foot Alligator At Jacksonville Elementary School

Florida Man Mike Dragich is the total package. He's a local veteran in Jacksonville. He's an MMA fighter. And he's the guy they call when a Florida alligator becomes a problem. That's what happened last week with this 10 foot beast showed up in a parking lot at a Jacksonville elementary school.

Mike is a licensed trapper and knows what he's doing. Don't try this at home. He told Fox 35 ""We get there. I walked through the gate. And boom. There it was just ready to go right there in the parking lot, and we just had to get the job done."

We've seen a lot of alligator videos lately. We're right on the end of alligator mating season, so hopefully it'll slow down soon. But here's at least one more before the beasts calm down.

When I saw the video, even before Mike got to the gator you can see that thing didn't stand a chance. I wouldn't get near that thing without a suit of armor. This guy is sleeveless. I mean, what are the rest of the people there to do? I guess he needs someone to pass him the tape. That seems to be about it. This guy knows what he's doing.

The gator takedown

This is just nuts. With all the people screaming it was quite the scene.

So, what do you do for fun?

You could charge for these shows. How do you show no fear?

Is he even human?

That is some scary stuff. A true Florida Man.

Like he said earlier, don't try this at home

I can't even. I'm flinching just watching these videos.
