Universal Orlando Rolls Out New Variety Of Butterbeer

Butterbeer at Universal Orlando

If you've been to Universal Orlando, you know Butterbeer is a staple and the theme park just announced a new variety of the popular drink.

Witches, wizards and Muggles all have one thing in common. The love for the magical elixir known as Butterbeer inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando. For those who aren't up-to-date on Harry Potter lore, Butterbeer is a frothy, sweet (and sometimes frozen) beverage that's beloved by the wizarding world. And thanks to Universal, fans can enjoy this mythical drink in real life.

But what makes Butterbeer so special? Is it the secret ingredients, passed down through generations of witches and wizards? Or is it simply the spellbinding marketing campaign that has turned it into a must-try beverage? All I know is that it's delicious and I can't leave the park without indulging in a frozen Butterbeer. And I'm not the only one, sometimes the lines for Butterbeer are longer than for a ride!

To appeal to an even larger audience, Universal has rolled out a new variety of Butterbeer. Vegan Butterbeer. It is available cold or frozen and the resort said in a press release that the non-dairy variety features "the same delicious taste as the exciting, wildly-popular Butterbeer drink." You can find it at the Three Broomsticks restaurant in Hogsmeade and the Leaky Cauldron restaurant in Diagon Alley.

10 Universal Orlando Rides and Attractions We Really Miss

Change is inevitable, and Universal Orlando is no different. There's always something new being built, but, because space is limited, this often requires something else to be shut down. In just one difference between this summer and last, you'll notice there's no more Shrek 4D. The area is now blocked off with temporary work walls covered in minions graphics. I heard a rumor that's going to be a minions themed moving walkway attraction. Shoot, if you know where to look you can find the old Shrek stuff. That'd actually be fun to own some of that stuff to outfit your game room.

So what's some of the other rides and attractions that made way for new ones? Read on for the trip down memory lane.

Back to the Future - The Ride

Almost need a DeLorean to get back to this one. This ride's story was replaced in 2007 with The Simpsons Ride.

Beetlejuice Graveyard Revue

In 2016 this show ended and made way for Fast & Furious - Supercharged.

Disaster!® – A Major Motion Picture Ride…Starring YOU

This one was also removed to make way for Fast & Furious

Dragon Challenge

This was actually two coasters. They used to launch them at the same time, but people were getting injured from loose items flying off of the coasters. In 2017 it made way for Hagrid's Motorbike Adventure.

Jaws

Who didn't get their picture taken with the big hanging shark back in the day? This attraction took up a lot of space and in 2012 was ended to make room for Harry Potter Diagon Alley.

Jimmy Neutron’s Nicktoon Blast

In 2011 it was changed to Minion Mayhem.

Kongfrontation

In 2002 this ride was revamped into Revenge Of The Mummy, one of my personal faves as it's it's a great way to get out of the heat for an hour or so.

Lucy – A Tribute

This one I knew very well as I spent much time at the Broadcast Center right next door. In 2015 this changed over to the Hello Kitty Shop.

Shrek 4-D

This is the one that's being switched over right now. It closed just a few months ago and it's replacement hasn't been officially announced yet.

The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad

This show ended in 2018. I couldn't find an official reason why it closed but the production looked very expensive.

TWISTER…Ride It Out

The main thing I remember about this one was how LOUD it was. In 2015 it was shut to make way for the race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon.
