First of all, they gathered data from the Florida Department of  Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles between the years of 2017 and 2021.

Next, they scoured the numbers from accident reports to find what times and what days had the highest percentages of people who died from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle crashes. The dangerous time of day might surprise you. It is not during morning or evening rush hours. It is actually in the wee hours of the morning, 2am. The numbers show that 1.35% of people involved in accidents at this time of day suffered fatal injuries.

In fact, it seems the early morning hours in general are the most unsafe. 3am and 4am both have high incidents of fatalities. A spokesperson for InjuredInFlorida.com explained, "There are more injuries during rush hour than these times, but the data shows that fatalities are more than five times more likely to occur early in the morning by comparison."

Most dangerous day to drive

In addition to the time of day, researchers also calculated the most dangerous day for fatal accidents. They found Sunday to have the highest number of fatal accidents. What day is statistically the safest day to drive in Florida? Wednesday. Happy Hump Day.
