Super Bowl 57 in Phoenix: Here is everything you need to know about prop bets

Super Bowl

Super Bowl 57 in Phoenix. Here is everything you need to know about prop bets.  Well, we made it through another week of listening to mostly useless interviews and minutia.  And there's a lot of it. Now lets get down tot the nitty-gritty. Prop bets and other gambling nuggets.  I will have my prediction at the end of this post.

What Is A Prop Bet?

Prop bets are a type of bet where you can wager on specific events within a game, rather than the outcome of the game itself.

The numbers listed next to each prop (-113, +550, +112, etc.) are the odds, which indicate the potential payout for a winning bet. For example, if you bet $100 on Travis Kelce to score a TD at odds of -113, and he does score a TD, your payout would be $187.50, since you would win $100 x (1 + (-113)/100) = $187.50.

If the odds are positive, like +550 for Travis Kelce to be the 1st TD scorer, it means that for every $100 you bet, you would win $550 if the bet comes through.

Where Is The Big Money Headed This Week?

Sportsbook director Thomas Gable said as of Thursday night, at The Borgata in Atlantic City, New Jersey, 82% of the point spread bets were on the Eagles. But the money that has been wagered is much more evenly distributed between the two teams.

In these examples, the bettors are betting on specific player performance (Super Bowl MVP) and specific score outcomes. The odds listed (125-1, 200-1, 250-1) indicate the potential payout for a winning bet. For example, if the bettor wins their $2,500 bet on Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell to win Super Bowl MVP at 125-1 odds, they would receive a payout of $312,500, since their winnings would be $2,500 x (125 + 1) = $312,500.

Final Analysis and Pete's Prediction

The Chiefs' struggles against the run and in the secondary may make them vulnerable to the Eagles' rushing attack. While the Eagles' weaknesses at the linebacker position and in their defensive backfield may make them susceptible to the passing attack of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Additionally, the pressure that the Eagles' pass rush is likely to generate could result in short fields for the offense as a result of strip sacks and takeaways.

These are key factors to consider when analyzing the game and making predictions about the outcome, as they can greatly impact the final score and the overall performance of both teams.  More nuggets later today on the Shemon and Sheppard Show. That's today 2-6pm.

Finally, here's Pete's Prediction.  Kansas City 30 Philadelphia 27.

Super Bowl 57 Is Only A Few Days Away: Here are The 10 Hottest Reporters Covering The Game

In Phoenix, Super Bowl 57 Is Only A Few Days Away: Here are some Hot Reporters covering the game. As part of our ongoing Super Bowl coverage.

Over the past 10 days we have been breaking down all things revolving around the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.  Here are a few more fun facts about the game.  Later I will be posting who I believe to be the 10 hottest reporters covering the game.  You don't want to miss this!

Fun Facts for Super Bowl 57 in Phoenix

Mahomes Excellent No Matter the Coverage
The Eagles have been pretty evenly split between playing man and zone coverage this season, using zone on 54% of their opponent dropbacks and man on 46%. That shouldn’t make a difference for Patrick Mahomes, as the Chiefs signal-caller is the only QB in the league to rank top-3 vs both man and zone coverage.

Chiefs RBs Could Cause Problems in the Passing Game
One area where Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts have excelled this season is screen passes, as both rank 1-2 in the NFL this season in QBR on screens.

As it pertains to Mahomes specifically, he’s been the best on screen passes since becoming the Chiefs starter in 2018 and it really hasn’t been close. Since 2018 including playoffs, Mahomes has 31 TD passes on screens — that’s a whopping 20 more than the next-closest QB in Aaron Rodgers.

How The Philadelphia Eagles Can Move The Ball

Eagles Can Challenge Chiefs’ Efficiency with Pre-Snap Motion
One of the Chiefs’ favorite tendencies is pre-snap motion. Kansas City uses motion at the 4th-highest rate in the league, and Patrick Mahomes has the 2nd-highest QBR with motion. In the Super Bowl they’ll face an Eagles defense that has excelled against plays with pre-snap motion.

Hurts Could Excel Between the Numbers
Jalen Hurts could look to attack the Chiefs defense between the numbers on Super Bowl Sunday. This season Hurts has been excellent throwing in the middle of the field, ranking top-5 in QBR, yards per attempt and first down rate including the playoffs. The Chiefs defense on the other hand ranks 28th in opponent QBR on throws between the numbers.

More on all of this later today on Shemon and Sheppard 2-6pm.  Now here are in no particular order some of the hottest reporters covering the game on Sunday.  Enjoy!
