Philadelphia Eagles vs Kansas City Chiefs Fun Facts Part 2.
There are going to be lots of story lines, analysis, breakdowns, picks and a lot more as everyone on the planet will over analyze everything pertaining to Superbowl 57 between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Here are some of the more interesting story lines I think you will like. We will have more on Shemon and Sheppard later today 2-6pm.
Top Pass Offense vs Top Pass Defense
The Chiefs averaged the most pass yards per game during the regular season (298), while the Eagles allowed the fewest pass yards per game on defense (180). FROM ELIAS: It’s just the 3rd Super Bowl matchup to feature the No. 1 passing offense vs the No. 1 passing defense. In the first 2 instances the defensive team won convincingly. Overall, both units ranked near the top of the league in passing categories.
Fast Starting Teams
Both the Chiefs and Eagles didn’t trail in either of the 2 games they’ve played this postseason.
This will be the first Super Bowl where both teams entered without trailing at any point during their postseason run since Super Bowl XXXIX in the 2004 season between the Eagles and the Patriots.
In case one of these squads gets out to the lead and doesn’t look back — the only teams to win the Super Bowl without trailing during their postseason run are the 1966 Packers, 1971 Cowboys, 1973 Dolphins, 1977 Cowboys and most recently 1991 Washington.
Recent Winners
Both teams are recent champions, with the Chiefs winning in 2019 and Eagles doing so in 2017. It’s the first time in 40 seasons (Super Bowl XVIII) that both Super Bowl participants have won the Super Bowl within the last 5 seasons, and only the fourth overall.
SO IT’S CHIEFS EAGLES . HOW’D WE GET THERE?
Conference Championship weekend had come and gone. So it's Chiefs Eagles for the Super Bowl in two weeks. Let's explore how we got there with a look back at the Conference Championships this past weekend.
First of all, in the night cap, great job by Patrick Mahomes. He gutted it out and played that game effectively on a high ankle sprain. He played through the pain and saved his leg for his last run of the day. He also took a dumb late hit from the Bengals. The ensuing penalty put the Chiefs in field goal range for the winning kick with seconds remaining.
Earlier in the day, in the NFC, the Eagles were steady all day. And the 49ers played QB roulette due to some bad luck. Brock Purdy, who was the team's third starting quarterback of the season, hurt his arm. Josh Johnson tried to salvage the day but got knocked out with a concussion. All in all, the 49ers had a great team and a great season and just came up short to the Eagles.
So it's Chiefs Eagles as we will quiz you on the Conference Championships and play Wiki-Pete-ia on the Shemon and Sheppard Show on ESPN Southwest Florida. Good luck!
