I don't like snakes of any size but I couldn't believe it when I heard a 14-foot python was found in Naples. That's right. IN NAPLES! Eek!
Three deputies from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office were in for quite the surprise Wednesday night. They've been in SWFL helping with hurricane recovery efforts. That's when they were called to a neighborhood in East Naples after a python sighting by a resident.
When they arrived around 9:30pm, they found not only a python, but a 14-foot Burmese python!
The Naples python was hanging out in some bushes in between two houses.
You expect to see these monster snakes in the Everglades, but not near homes in Naples!
NBC2 reports that one deputy humanely euthanized the python. FWC removed it and no one was hurt. This will make for a great story for this group to take back to Jacksonville. Happy First Responders Day and thank you for coming to help after Hurricane Ian!
