Baltimore outfielder Trey Mancini has announced that he has stage 3 colon cancer and doubts he will play if and when MLB returns this season.

Making the announcement in the Players Tribune, 28-year-old Mancini wrote that he had to have a port put in his chest on April 6th and will undergo chemotherapy treatments every two weeks for the next six months.

Mancini also wrote about the challenges of having cancer during the Coronavirus outbreak, adding "It's crazy.  I'm getting chemo and I have to drive up there alone.  No one is allowed to come in with me."  He said that it's fine by him, because he doesn't want to put someone else or himself at risk.

Doctors found low iron levels in Mancini during his spring training physical and had surgery to remove a malignant tumor from his colon on March 12th.  Mancini hopes to spread awareness about the importance of getting an annual physical each year once he's finished with chemo.
