South Fort Myers High graduate Sammy Watkins will play as a Kansas City wide receiver for one more year.
The 26-year-old will sign a $9 million contract with up to an additional $7 million in incentives, according to The News-Press. The deal reportedly includes a no-trade clause.
Watkins celebrated the news on Twitter: "Im back KC LETS GET IT..! #RUNITBACKTOUR"
The Super Bowl champion will be entering his seventh NFL season, having signed with the Chiefs in 2018 after stints with the Buffalo Bills and the Los Angeles Rams. Watkins has 284 receptions for 4,244 yards and 31 touchdowns for his career.
