An Olympic champion swimmer from China has been handed an eight-year ban for doping.

Sun Yang, who won gold at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Games, was found guilty of refusing to cooperate with doping investigators, including a 2018 incident in which a blood sample was destroyed on orders from his mother.

Yang has long been accused of cheating by fellow competitors, some of whom refused to stand with him on the podium at last year's World Championships.

The ban will force Yung to miss the upcoming Olympics in Tokyo and keeps him from competing internationally until 2028.

How common do you think doping is at the Olympics? Does it affect your enjoyment of the Games?
