Three years after a blown engine left him in 24th place, Fernando Alonso is getting another shot at the Indianapolis 500.
The driver has signed on to compete in the famed event for Arrow McLaren SP, the team revealed on Tuesday. Alonso, who's already won the Monaco Grand Prix and Le Mans 24 Hours, hopes to become the second driver in history to complete "The Triple Crown of Motorsport" with an Indianapolis 500 victory. "I am a racer and the Indy 500 is the greatest race in the world," the 38-year-old says. "I love the incredible fans who make it so special for all of us drivers and make me want to come back."
The Indianapolis 500 is set for Sunday, May 24th.
