Lakers Officially Sign Dwight Howard To One-Year, Non-Guaranteed Deal

Howard To "Compete" With McGee For Starting Center

On Monday, it was made official: Dwight Howard cleared waivers and will once again become a member of the Lakers, wearing No. 39.

The deal, known as a "summer contract," will pay Howard $14,490 for every day he is on the roster, starting October 21.

What position will he play? According to Shams Charania from The Athletic, Howard "will compete with [JaVale] McGee for the starting center job".

Charania notes, "For the first time in years, Howard seems fully motivated and fully healthy."
