Andrew Luck shocked the world with his sudden “retirement” from the NFL per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Is it me, or is something fishy? Why now right before the start of the season?
Luck said in a news conference, “I haven’t been able to live the life I want to live. It’s taken the joy out of this game … the only way forward for me is to remove myself from football. This is not an easy decision. It’s the hardest decision of my life. But it is the right decision for me.”
There is no doubt the physical toll football has on your body, but could this really be the case? This is a very smart guy who skipped minicamp his rookie season to finish his final exams at Stanford.
Andrew’s father, Oliver Luck, just so happens to be the Commissioner of the new XFL. So I ask you, do you think his emotions on retiring are sincere? Is there a possibility Andrew Luck suits up with a team in his father’s league or at the very least takes a front office gig with the XFL? I guess we’ll just have to wait and find out.
