Former Dolphin Hall of Famer Nick Buoniconti, dies at 78
Buoniconti will always be remembered for being a member of the undefeated 1972 Miami Dolphins team, the only perfect 17-0 team in NFL history still.
He was 78 years old, an All-American linebacker at Notre Dame, eight-time All-AFL and two time Pro Bowler.
Buoniconti was inducted into the Pro Hall of Fame in 2001
After his football career, Buoniconti dedicated his time raising funds for research into brain and spine injuries.
It was personal matter for him, his son, Marc, was paralyzed as a result of an injury suffered while being a college football player.
Years before his death,the elder Buoniconti pledged to donate his brain for the purpose of further research into the causes and effects of CTE.
