New York City Will Throw Ticker Tape Parade For The USWNT
The US Women's soccer team continues their World Cup victory celebrations on Wednesday with a ticker tape parade thrown in their honor down New York City's Canyon of Heroes.
Mayor Bill de Blasio made the announcement on Twitter Sunday following the USWNT's 2-0 win over the Netherlands, saying the team has "inspired the entire country."
First lady Chirlane McRae also cheered on the victory in a statement, saying, "We applaud the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team's athletic prowess, their advocacy in fighting for equal pay, and their use of their international platform to speak out against injustice."
The Big Apple previously dropped the confetti for the team after their 2015 WWC win over Japan.
