Kyrie Irving has been bestowed a new name after taking part in a traditional ceremony with the Standing Rock Sioux tribe on Thursday.
The Boston Celtics star will now be known as "Little Mountain." Irving's mother, Elizabeth Larson, was a descendant of the tribe, but was adopted out and died when Irving turned four years old. The five-time NBA All-Star has been publicly embracing his heritage, lending support to the tribe in their fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline two years ago. Irving even has a tattoo of the tribe's logo and has incorporated that image into his latest signature shoe. Irving's sister, Asia, also took part in the ceremony, taking on the Lakota name Buffalo Woman.
