Avoid a trip downtown to pay traffic citations

Fort Myers, Fl., Sept.1, 2017 – Have you received a traffic citation? Did you know that you can save time, travel and long lines by paying your traffic citation online, by phone or by mail? Did you know that you can request a hearing or elect to attend traffic school by mail? All of these options are available from the comfort of your home or office.
Clerk of Court Linda Doggett wants you to know all your options before coming to the courthouse to pay your citation. The downtown Fort Myers location receives an average of 9,500 customers a month and a large percentage are there to pay a traffic citation. The office wants to save you the trip—and the time.
In a cooperative effort with the Cape Coral Police Department, Florida Highway Patrol, Fort Myers Police Department and Lee County Sheriff’s Office beginning in September, an informational pamphlet will be handed out along with the traffic citation. The pamphlet explains the various options for payment (online, phone, mail, school or request a hearing).  The pamphlet is available on www.LeeClerk.org under Quick Links on the home page. Choose How to Pay Your Traffic Citation for a copy of the traffic pamphlet that explains the various options.  By knowing your options, you can avoid an unnecessary trip downtown.
