You've heard of haunted houses, but what about actual haunted places in Florida? As it turns out, Florida has quite a few haunted spots, which are perfect to check out during the fall months. So, what's the absolutely most haunted place in Florida?

Florida: The Most Haunted Place

Several experts have tallies of their favorite haunted places in Florida, and one spot stands above the rest. The experts at both Ghostsandgravestones.com and WESH highlight the St. Augustine Lighthouse as being one of the best haunted spots in Florida and perhaps the most haunted place. "Built in 1874, this historic lighthouse rises 165 feet above sea level and contains 219 steps leading to the magnificent tower where a Fresnel lens serves as a beacon of light to incoming ships," Ghosts and Gravestones states. "But this lovely lighthouse, while still serving the city, is also a hotbed of paranormal activity, illuminating its tragic past in the form of ghostly occurrences." WESH adds, "Over a century ago, Joseph Andre, one of the lighthouse keepers, fell to his death while painting the outside of the tower. To this day, people say they still feel his presence, and some claim to see him looking out from the top of the tower."

If you're looking to travel outside of the state and look for a haunted spot, Timeout.com has a new feature out about the most haunted Airbnbs in America. "We’ve scoured Airbnb’s most eclectic and eerie listings to find the most haunted Airbnbs in America, from creepy castles to spooky spare bedrooms and mysterious mansions," they explain. "These rental haunted houses feature charming creaking floorboards, whimsical wainscoting, and vintage vibes along with chills, thrills, and frights from spirited ghost hosts that are straight out of the best Halloween movies of all time."

The No. 1 most haunted place in America, according to Timeout.com, is The Haunted Brothel in Victor, Colorado. As the story goes, following a fire in 1899, which destroyed this brothel, casino and saloon, “the space was rebuilt and meticulously restored, bringing spirited supernatural stories,” according to Timeout.com. So, who’s the ghost who occupies this spot? It’s not a bar regular. It’s a “former miner who died in a gunfight.” They also state that some of the taxidermy and art that decorates the place is really creepy, which adds a nice, spooky touch. They say this spot is affordable if you stay with a large group. I honestly wouldn’t want to stay at any of these places alone, so I say, the more, the merrier.
