Wives and Girlfriends With More Followers Than Their Pro Sports Men

Travis Kelce #87 of the Kansas City Chiefs (L) celebrates with Taylor Swift after defeating the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game at M&T Bank Stadium. As it turns out, quite a few wife and girlfriends have more followers than their pro sports men.

Professional sports are known for their famous couples. From Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen to Russell Wilson and Ciara, there's nothing like a power couple that brings two superstar businesses together. As it turns out, quite a few wife and girlfriends have more followers than their pro sports men.

When it comes to the MLB, there are some new faces in the crowd supporting their significant others. I'm talking about gymnast Olivia Dunne, of course. Dunne is dating new Pittsburgh Pirates pitching hotshot Paul Skenes, who recently made his long-awaited MLB debut. She was at his first game, and the cameras were on her pretty much all the time. It was similar to Taylor Swift making her appearances at Travis Kelce's games with the Kansas City Chiefs. Dunne has a whopping 8 million TikTok followers and 5 million Instagram followers, many more followers than her man. It's no wonder the MLB is really pushing her appearances at games.

The experts at Doc’s Sports recently looked into this phenomenon of wives and girlfriends of specifically MLB stars and how many of them have a higher earning potential, and more followers, than their men. No. 1 on their list is singer Vanessa Hudgens, who is married to Cole Tucker, a shortstop and outfielder for the Los Angeles Angels. Hudgens has 4.5 million TikTok followers and 51.3 million Instagram followers. They estimate that her earning potential for just one Instagram post is $51,253, and her earning potential for just one TikTok post is $7,258.41. No. 3 on the tally from Doc's Sports is model Kate Upton, who has 6.7 million Instagram followers and 54,500 TikTok followers. They estimate that Upton could make $9,289 for one Instagram post but just $92.51 for on TikTok post. That latter number surprises me, since Upton is so popular, but it's obviously based on the size of her TikTok following.

Outside of the MLB, singer Ciara and NFL quarterback Russell Wilson are one of my favorite "rock star" couples. Ciara has 35 million Instagram followers, while Wilson only has 6 million. Another one is actress and former MTV VJ La La Anthony, who is married to basketball star Carmelo Anthony. La La has 15 million Instagram followers, while Carmelo has 8.1 million. I always loved watching La La on MTV when I was growing up. Some couples have a close following, such as Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff and model Christen Harper, who have about half a million Instagram followers a piece. Of course, let's not forget the hottest NFL couple of the moment: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. Swift has an incredible 283 million Instagram followers, while Kelce has 6 million. But, really, it's not about who has more followers. It's about finding true love. So, if someone with a billion social followers finds love with someone with zero following, that's just as sweet. Contact me with your favorite couples, too.
