Texas at Oklahoma State Highlight College Football’s Best of The Rest For Week 8

Longhorns

Texas at Oklahoma State Highlight College Football’s Best of The Rest For Week 8. On Thursday, I posted 3 big games for tomorrow, here are a few more games and nuggets.

#20 Texas at #11 Oklahoma State, 3:30pm ABC

Oklahoma State is coming off a loss to TCU and now has to stop Quinn Ewers and Bijan Robinson. Ewers has thrown seven passing touchdowns in his last two games, the most over a two-game span by a Texas freshman since Colt McCoy in 2006.  Robinson has rushed for 100 yards in five straight games, the 2nd time in his career he has done that. He is one of two players in Texas history with multiple five-game streaks of 100 rushing yards, along with Cedric Benson. With 100 rushing yards on Saturday, Robinson will become the 5th Texas player to record 100 rushing yards in at least six consecutive games.

It's a weird line for you bettors our there.  The Cowboys are actually a 6.5 point underdog in this one.  They lost last week in double overtime, 43-40, to TCU.  Had they been the ones to win that game they would most definitely be in the top 6.  I'll take the points with the Cowboys here.

#17 Kansas State at #8 TCU, 8pm FS1

TCU has won three straight games, all against AP-ranked opponents, for the first time in school history. With a win on Saturday, the Horned Frogs will join Oklahoma in 2016 as the only Big 12 teams to win four consecutive games within a season, all against AP-ranked teams.

Max Duggan has been one of the best quarterbacks in the country, ranking 7th in Total QBR and 5th in TD-Int among qualified FBS quarterbacks. Duggan is one of two players with 250 passing yards and 50 rushing yards in three consecutive games this season, along with North Carolina’s Drake Maye.

TCU will have to limit Adrian Martinez, who is one the best rushing quarterbacks in the FBS. He leads all quarterbacks in rushing yards and is tied with Malik Cunningham for the most rushing touchdowns this season.  He is also the only player with 500 passing yards and 500 rushing yards this season.

#7 Ole Miss at LSU, 3:30pm CBS

This is just the third time in series history that a Top-10 Ole Miss team will face an unranked LSU squad. The No. 3 Rebels won 37-3 in 1963, but the Tigers played No. 2 Ole Miss to a 6-6 tie in 1960.  The Rebels beat the Tigers 31-17 last season to snap a five-game losing streak in the series. Ole Miss are looking to win back-to-back meetings for just the second time this century (2008-09).

Fun Facts:

An LSU player has rushed for 250 yards in a game six times in program history; three of those instances have come against Ole Miss. Leonard Fournette ran for 284 yards in 2016, Derrius Guice had 276 in 2017, and Alley Broussard had 250 in 2004.
