The Real Top 25 College Football Rankings for Week 7 is here. And what a week it was!
Week 7 Nuggets
Week 7 of the college football season did not disappoint at all, especially the AP-ranked matchups. There were 6 in total with 3 of them being decided by 3 points or fewer.
20 Utah beat 7 USC, 43-42
6 Tennessee beat 3 Alabama, 52-49
13 TCU beat 8 Oklahoma State, 43-40
That’s tied for the most AP-ranked matchups to be decided by 3 points or fewer on a single day in AP Poll history. The only other instance in the last 15 seasons was on New Year’s Day earlier this year. When the Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, and Citrus Bowl were each decided by 2 or 3 points.
Finally, Alabama-Tennessee, Oklahoma State-TCU and USC-Utah saw both teams score 40+ points. This is the first day ever with three AP-ranked matchups where both teams scored 40+ points.
Stats of the Week
Stanford won 16-14 vs Notre Dame, snapping an 11-game losing streak against FBS opponents. Additionally, LSU won 45-35 over Florida as Jayden Daniels joined Joe Burrow as the only LSU players to be responsible for 6 touchdowns in a game.
Colorado got its first win of the season in a 20-13 OT win over Cal. The Buffs were the only winless team in the FBS entering Saturday. Congrats.
North Carolina won 38-35 against Duke. Drake Maye joined Lamar Jackson (2017) as the only ACC players to have 3 straight games with 300 passing yards and 50 rushing yards over the last 25 years.
The Miami Hurricanes got a much needed win. They went on the road and beat Virginia Tech 20-14.
