The Real Top 25 College Football Rankings for Week 6 is here. After week off due to Hurricane Ian, the rankings are back! I don’t trust AP voters and certainly not Coaches Poll voters. The people voting in both of those polls either don’t watch enough college football, vote against other teams on purpose due to regionalisms or simply have their respective sports information directors or other minions vote for them.
Pete’s Mindset for His Rankings of the Real Top 25 College Football teams
My real top 25 rankings are not necessarily based on style points. I take into consideration previous rankings, strength of opponent, home, away or neutral site victories and heart. You may not always agree with my rankings, however I will be as fair and impartial as possible while basing all my rankings on the previous criteria.
I will be posting my Top 25 College Football Rankings every Monday. They will be out before noon time.
Week 6 Nuggets
Texas A&M put top-ranked Alabama to the test, but the Crimson Tide held on to win 24-20. The Aggies threw an incompletion from the 2-yard line as time expired to give Alabama the victory. Jalen Milroe started in place of Bryce Young, throwing 3 passing touchdowns and recording 83 rushing yards. Milroe is the 4th player in Alabama history with 3 pass TD in his starting debut, joining Bryce Young, Mac Jones and Joe Namath.
Alabama now turns its attention to next week, an AP Top-10 meeting against Tennessee in Knoxville. It is the 2nd AP Top-10 matchup between the two since 2000. In 2016, No. 1 Alabama beat the 9th-ranked Vols 49-10. However, this Volunteers team is on a roll, winning 40-13 Saturday vs No. 25 LSU. Tennessee is 5-0 for the first time since 2016 and has scored 234 points this season, its most through the first 5 games of a season since 1915 (303 points).
Interim Coach Success
Arizona State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Georgia Tech, and UAB all won this week and all have interim head coaches. This is the first time since the FBS/FCS split in 1978 FBS teams with interim head coaches went 4-0 or better in a single week (and they went 5-0).
This poll is for you, the tremendous fans of the Shemon and Sheppard Show. I hope you enjoy it.
