Now that October is here it's spooky season and one Florida city has made a list of the best places to celebrate Halloween.
I absolutely love this time of year. The weather starts to change (not drastically for us here in Florida, but a little bit!). Places like Farmer Mike's in Bonita Springs and Fort Myers open for the season for pumpkin patching, corn mazing and haunted fun. And of course, the anticipation of a fun night of parties, trick-or-treating and picking out that perfect costume. Maybe one of your favorite things is to cozy up with some scary movies or pumpkin carving fun. Or take a road trip to haunted cities around Florida or other parts of the country. There's no doubt there's plenty to do once fall arrives.
One Florida City Makes List Of Best Places To Celebrate Halloween
The Weather Channel put out a list of the best places to celebrate Halloween. These cities have lots of fun things to do throughout the fall season during the month of October and even into November. Orlando came in at #4 on the list. From Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at Disney to Universal's Halloween Horror Nights, they are some of the best events you could attend. So if you're looking for the best of the best for Halloween fun, look no further.
Best Places in America to Celebrate Halloween:
1. Salem, MA
I've considered for many years taking a fall trip to Salem. What better place at this time of year to be in the place where the witch trials took place. The city goes all in. But be prepared, the crowds are pretty intense.
2. Sleepy Hollow, NY
One thing you won't want to miss in Sleepy Hollow is the Great Jack O’ Lantern Blaze where over 7,000 pumpkins are lit. And of course, it wouldn't be a celebration without a live performance of Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”.
3. New Orleans, LA
New Orleans is known for being haunted and of course known for voodoo. Between ghost tours, cemetery tours and haunted bar tours, there's plenty to do. And of course NOLA that loves their parades, The “Krewe of Boo” parade takes to the streets Oct. 21.
4. Orlando, FL
I mentioned above some fun events happening at the theme parks, but there's much more to do. There's "The Haunting of River Ranch" at Westgate River Ranch Resort & Rodeo, Haunting Nights at Harry P. Leu Gardens, A Petrified Forest in Altamonte Springs and more.
5. Savannah, GA
Savannah is another city known for being haunted. Lots of ghost tours, haunted pub crawls and haunted house fun. There's also a bit Halloween festival called Scare on the Square Halloween weekend.
