It's true that plenty of restaurants in Florida go above and beyond to serve up delicious cuisine for their human customers. But what about the ones that take things one step further by offering a secret menu just for dogs? many dog lovers may know that pup-friendly restaurants are great places to bring their furry friends. But few are aware of the delicacies that can be found on Florida's dog-only menus. For example, many restaurants have dishes designed specifically for doggie palates such as dog-friendly ice cream and puppyacious burgers.
Unfortunately, these specialties are usually only available upon request. It pays to ask your server when dining out with your pup. Even if you don't necessarily see it listed on the restaurant menu, chances are there's a dog menu tucked away just waiting to be discovered! Either way, this is one case where everyone wins. Humans get to enjoy a delicious meal while their four-legged friends can indulge in canine culinary pleasure. Bon appétit!
Reader's Digest compiled a list of chain restaurants that have menu items specifically catered to doogos. But let's focus on the ones that are located here in Southwest Florida. Remember that too much dairy is bad for your dog so make this an occasional thing. Now, let's check out some local places that have a secret menu for dogs. Some are free. Some charge. You just need to ask.
Dunkin’ Puppy Latte
A small cup of whipped cream. We love Dunkin'.
Dairy Queen Pup Cup
A mini sundae with vanilla soft serve, topped with a dog biscuit.
Starbucks Puppuccino
A small serving of whipped cream served in an espresso cup.
Sonic Dog Treats
Nice to know I don't have to eat my Sonic burger alone.
Culver’s Dog Treats
If you find the right drive thru attendant, the milk bone will come with a scoop of vanilla frozen custard. My Yorkie Daisy and I will try this at the Estero store.
Ben & Jerry’s Doggie Desserts
Ben & Jerry's has a Naples location. I haven't seen these treats at Publix, but I also haven't really looked.
Shake Shack Pooch-ini
A mix of dog biscuits, peanut butter sauce and vanilla custard. Looks like our nearest Shake Shack is in Tampa or Miami.
Sprinkles Doggie Cupcakes
ThePupcake. Made with yogurt frosting. There's a Sprinkles in Disney Springs, but they also ship.
Florida’s Most Popular Names For Dogs And Cats In 2022
Wondering what the most popular names for dogs and cats are this year? Look no further! We've compiled a list of the top monikers for furry friends in 2022.
Naming a pet isn't like naming a kid. You can name your dog or cat ANYTHING and it won't affect their life at all. Can't exactly do that with a kid. And yet, for some reason people still use the same handful of pet names over and over.
But that's not say that names for pets can't be sentimental or meaningful. Like with my dog, Rocket. He was found during Hurricane Harvey as a baby back in 2017 and his foster dad, before I adopted him, named him after the Houston Rockets.
Rover.com just released the results of its data on the most popular dog and cat names of 2022. And the names that landed in the top 5 are really not surprising. I'm sure you know at least one person who has named their furry friend a name that landed on the list.
But before I reveal their findings, some people over the last year DID get creative. And for inspiration, they looked to TV shows like Yellowstone and Euphoria, movies like Encanto and some random stuff, including some throwbacks.
For example, "Adam Sandler" is all the rage right now...as a pet name. As is "Happy Gilmore." "Cruise" is also trending, as well as other names from Top Gun like Goose, Maverick and Cyclone.
Fast food also seems to be an inspiration. The dog names Taco Bella, Spicy Nugget, McGriddle and Crunchwrap all debuted on the list for the first time this year.
So, what's in a name? A lot more than you might think—especially when it comes to our pets. Whether you're on the hunt for something traditional or trendy (or a little bit of both), we hope this list helps you choose the perfect moniker for your four-legged friend.
