Utah State at 1 Alabama, 7:30 ET on SEC Network
Utah State goes from being a 24-point favorite in its opener against UConn to a nearly 40-point underdog in Tuscaloosa. The Aggies will become the 3rd team since 2000 to be a 20 point favorite in their first game and a 20 point underdog in their second game.
Colorado State at 8 Michigan, Noon ET on ABC
As the adage goes, if you have 2 quarterbacks, you don’t have one, but don’t tell that to Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh. Quarterbacks J.J McCarthy and Cade McNamara teamed up with RB Hassan Haskins and a stout defense to take Michigan to its first College Football Playoff last season. McNamara will start against Colorado State while McCarthy will be QB1 against Hawaii.
13 NC State at East Carolina, Noon on ESPN
The Wolfpack have matched their highest preseason ranking in team history. They were also 13th in 1975. NC State returns QB Devin Leary, he had 35 passing TD's and only 5 picks last year. That was the best touchdown to interception ratio in the ACC.
UTEP at 9 Oklahoma, Saturday 3:30 ET
Former Clemson DC Brent Venables returns to Norman as head coach after helping Dabo Swinney and his Tigers become a perennial power. Venables served on Bob Stoops original stann in Norman and helpe the Sooners to their last national title in 2000. UCF transfer Dillon Gabriel is expected to start at QB for Oklahoma. His 70 Pass TD over the last 3 seasons are the most among active FBS QBs.
Rice at 14 USC, Saturday 6 ET
The Lincoln Riley era begins in Los Angeles with hopes of returning the Trojans to glory. Transfers Caleb Williams and Biletnikoff winner Jordan Addison may accelerate the rebuild sooners than we think.
