5 Fantastic Airport Travel Hacks For Memorial Day Weekend

Travelers with suitcases walking through the airport. airport travel hacks

We've got a long holiday weekend ahead of us and the kickoff to a new travel season. To get you ready for your flights into and out of RSW in Fort Myers, here are 5 fantastic airport travel hacks for Memorial Day weekend and summer vacation.

Memorial Day is the unofficial kickoff to summer and vacation travel. For TikTok Tuesday I rounded up a few videos that you might find useful as you get ready for your next flight.

Airport Travel Hacks

There are new consumer protection rules in place this summer to help you get compensation for canceled and delayed flights. It's also important to know your rights if your baggage gets lost or delayed.

My bags got lost last summer. For a month. While changing locations in Europe, I made it to the next destination but my bag didn't. I finished the trip with what was in my backpack and hoped my luggage would eventually show up in Southwest Florida.

It's a good idea to brush up on some of these things in case the unthinkable happens to you. Also, remember that these videos come from social media folks. So it's also a good idea to double check the fine details.

More Airport Travel Hacks

Not all of these videos deal specifically with your rights as a consumer. Some also give you practical ideas if your flights are in and through countries where English is not the first language. In addition, there is an easy phone tip to keep your flight details handy.

If you don't have a TikTok account, don't worry. I've made it easy to view by taking these links from mine. Simply scroll down and watch from this post. Now you won't get into trouble at work. By the way, each one is office friendly too.

In fact, some of your co-workers might benefit from these tips as well. Be sure to share.

If You Get Bumped From a Flight

It happens. Airlines overbook to fill seats banking that not everyone will show. Inevitably it happens and they all do. I like how this guy has a conversation with himself to demonstrate how to handle the situation if you face it this summer. Good information.

Lost Luggage

UGH. This happened to me last summer and it was the worst. After seeing her tips, sounds like I could've got more compensation. Hopefully your luggage will arrive the same time you do. But if it doesn't, good to keep these tips in mind.

Stay To The Left

Well, this is a new one for me. I can honestly say I've never heard this theory or even thought about it. I'm going to pay attention to it now. See if this helps you move through the airport any faster.

Google Translator

I travel overseas and always love a good translator hack. If you stick to bigger cities you can almost always find someone who speaks English. However, not all restuarants have bi or multi-lingual menu listings. This is pretty important if you don't want to get stuck with something you don't like and wont eat.

Easy Access To Flight Info

Have you ever been stuck looking through you notes and emails for your flight info? It could be for you or to share with a friend or family member. This makes sharing and retrieving that info one step easier.
