With the prices of just about everything going up, gas is going down and here are 15 places in SWFL to find gas right now for under $3.
Every week we've been seeing gas prices coming down. Not quite as low as they were at the start of the pandemic, but under $3 seemed more like a dream than a reality. But now it's happening, and what perfect timing with the holidays right around the corner.
AAA Public Relations Manager Mark Jenkins told WFLA that the drop in price is due in part to economic recession concerns keeping downward pressure on the fuel market around the globe causing crude oil prices to drop.
Experts have been predicting gas prices to fall below $3 by Christmas, but here in SWFL we're seeing in some places already. Last year on Christmas Day, Floridians were paying an average of $3.23 per gallon and $3.22 on New Year's Eve. Compared to June when gas hit record highs, gas is now on average $1.73 lower.
A recent survey of 2,000 drivers revealed that 31% of Americans took less road trips this summer because of the cost of gas. 39% will be driving to spend the holidays away from home this year, with the average person willing to drive 3.5 hours to their holiday event.
