2021 Shemon & Sheppard Mock Draft
The NFL Draft is just one week away! Craig, Pete, and Chris have melded their brains and come up with our Mock Draft 1.0 presented by Naples Nissan. This is what we would do for each pick, not necessarily what we think the teams will do with the pick. Check out what your team should do next Thursday night.
1. Jacksonville Jaguars- QB Trevor Lawrence, Clemson
ShareHe's the most accomplished QB in the draft. If you need further explanation there's a problem.
2. New York Jets- QB Justin Fields, Ohio State
ShareWith all the hype around Zach Wilson, we still think Fields is the 2nd best QB in the draft. These are the Jets though, so they probably won't take him.
3. San Francisco 49ers- QB Mac Jones, Alabama
ShareThe 49ers are infatuated with this guy. They moved up 9 spots to get a QB. He's the best one on our board.
4. Atlanta Falcons- TE Kyle Pitts, Florida
ShareArguably the best player in the entire draft. Matt Ryan would tingle in all the right places if the Falcons take Pitts instead of a QB for the future.
5. Cincinnati Bengals- OT Penei Sewell, Oregon
ShareIt's an attractive thought to reunite Jamaar Chase and Jow Burrow, but the Bengals foud their franchise QB- now start building a wall in front of him to keep him healthy.
6. Miami Dolphins- WR Ja’Maar Chase, LSU
ShareAny one of the pass catchers could go here. We think Chase is the best WR coming out of school, but will opting out of the 2020 season hurt his status?
7. Detroit Lions- WR Devonta Smith, Alabama
ShareJared Goff will get a fresh new weapon. Offensive line is in play for this pick as well, but getting Goff weapons this season is key to figuring out if Goff will be the long term answer in Detroit.
8. Carolina Panthers- WR Jaylen Waddle, Alabama
ShareSam Darnold is going to excel in his new home with Joe Brady in his ear. Great new weapon for him.
9. Denver Broncos- QB Zach Wilson, BYU
ShareA move that will most likely not happen. BUT, moving on from Drew Lock is a possibility this offseason, and Wilson is a very intriguing prospect.
10. Dallas Cowboys- LB Micah Parsons, Penn State
ShareThe Cowboys defense needs help all over the place. CB is also an option, but take the best defensive player on the board.
11. New York Giants- CB Patrick Surtain II, Alabama
ShareAn argument can be made for offensive weapons here, but with the top 4 pass catchers off the board, take a plug and play player that will strengthen the strength of the team.
12. Philadelphia Eagles- CB Jaycee Horn, South Carolina
ShareEagles take the best player available here, and address a huge need at the same time. Horn opposite Slay starts the rebuild of a really bad defense.
13. Los Angeles Chargers- OT Rashawn Slater, Northwestern
ShareThe Chargers have done the hard part: finding the QB of the future. Now build a wall in front of him.
14. Minnesota Vikings- DT Christian Barmore, Alabama
ShareBarmore will come in and help the Vikings in the running game (27th against the run) and in the interior pass rush.
15. New England Patriots- QB Trey Lance, North Dakota St.
ShareThe consensus is Lance is the least pro ready QB out of the top 5 QBs. But, If there is a franchise that can nurture a supreme talent and develop him into a starting QB. Maybe he comes in a surprises everyone and competes with Cam fron day 1.
16. Arizona Cardinals- CB Caleb Farley, Virginia Tech
ShareThis offense is ready to win now. The defense is a different story. If Farley were healthy and played in 2020, he might be the top defensive prospect in the class.
17. Las Vegas Raiders- OL Alijah Vera-Tucker, USC
ShareThe Raiders have moved on from a majority of their offensive line. If they want Carr to have a season similar to 2020, they need to get more help in front of him.
18. Miami Dolphins- DE Kwity Paye, Michigan
SharePaye has the best testing numbers of any pass rusher coming out this season. The production hasn't always been there, but you can't argue with the athleticism. With Brian Flores putting him in position to succeed, Paye could come in and be an impact player immediately.
19. Washington Football Team- OT Teven Jenkins, Oklahoma State
ShareThis dude is nasty! Nasty in the way you want an offensive lineman to be. The defense is set in D.C. Imagine if they had a top of the league rushing attack to compliment that defense. Jenkins helps do that.
20. Chicago Bears- LB Jamin Davis, Kentucky
ShareWe know the Bears need help on the offense up front, but Davis a very versitile linebacker who can rush the passer and drop into coverage. Him alongside Raquan Smith is a tandem that will haunt the NFC North for years to come.
21. Indianapolis Colts- DE Jaelan Phillips, Miami
ShareIf he can stay healthy, he might be the steal of the draft. The health is a big concern though. he retired from football while at UCLA before coming back to play at The U.
22. Tennessee Titans- WR Kadarius Toney, Florida
ShareHe is the ultimate playmaker. Lining him up opposite A.J. Brown will give secondaries fits. He speed would also make opposing defenses chose between stacking the box to stop Henry and the run game or stopping the deep ball with two explosive wide receivers.
23. New York Jets- CB Greg Newsome II, Northwestern
ShareThis team needs help everywhere. Taking the best DB available is a good place to start.
24. Pittsburgh Steelers- RB Najee Harris, Alabama
ShareThe Steelers were horrendous on the ground last year. They have some nice running backs in the building, but Harris combines power running with really good pass protection and catching abilities. He is a true 3-down back.
25. Jacksonville Jaguars- WR Elijah Moore, Ole Miss
ShareHe reminds scouts of Tyreek Hill. Get Trevor Lawrence all the help he needs.
26. Cleveland Browns- LB Zaven Collins, Tulsa
ShareVery talented linebacker for the Browns to put in the middle of their defense. The Browns are building a Super Bowl contender.
27. Baltimore Ravens- WR Terrace Marshall Jr, LSU
ShareThis is a big bodied receiver that the Ravens are in desperate need of. They need to have the passing game be enough of a threat that the run game can work. Marshall opposite Hollywood Brown and Sammy Watkins is intriguing.
28. New Orleans Saints- WR Rashad Bateman, Minnesota
ShareThere has been a steady flow of talent on the outside leaving the building over the past few years. Bateman would give Jamies or Hill a true #2 receiver opposite Michael Thomas.
29. Green Bay Packers- C Landon Dickerson, Alabama
ShareDickerson would be taken much higher if not for a history of injuries. This might be the last ass Aaron Rodgers ever touches in Green Bay.
30. Buffalo Bills- RB Jevonte Williams, UNC
ShareThey Bills have a pretty complete roster. They can improve their RB room though, Moss and Singletary don't seem to be elite runners. Williams is the type of running back that fits with Buffalo; hard nosed runner.
31. Kansas City Chiefs- OL Liam Eichenberg, Notre Dame
ShareHe is a very vertil lineman who can play anywhere but Center. We saw what happened when Mahomes doesn't have a competent line in front of him. Make it competent.
32. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- OT Jalen Mayfield, Michigan
ShareGet Tom Brady another Michigan Man to help protect him. He is a smart guy who will come in and provide depth to a stacked team.
