After repairing torn ligaments in his left wrist, Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill will need to wait until summer 2025 before catching passes again, according to a report from SI.

The procedure addresses ongoing problems that affected Hill's 2024 season. His wrist issues began during summer training, getting worse after he was involved in a pre-season car accident.

Numbers show how Hill struggled this year. The elite receiver managed only 81 catches for 959 yards and six touchdowns in 2024 - way below his outstanding 2023 season of 119 catches, 1,799 yards, and 13 touchdowns.

Throughout spring, Miami's coaches will have Hill focus on building strength and conditioning. Doctors expect him to resume catching passes when training camp begins.

After missing the playoffs with an 8-9 record, questions arose about Hill's future. Though he initially suggested wanting a change, those thoughts didn't last long.

"He is not looking to leave the Dolphins," said Drew Rosenhaus to Rotowire.

Hill remains under contract with Miami through 2026, following a new three-year, $90 million deal signed last August. The contract was worked out during salary cap discussions.

Having the surgery now gives Hill plenty of time to heal before next season. Doctors found no broken bones, just damaged ligaments that had limited his game-breaking ability.

Miami's offense struggled without Hill at full strength. Their passing game fell apart late, ending their playoff hopes.

The six-month recovery timeline matches normal healing periods for this type of wrist surgery. Hill can work on getting back to full strength before testing his hands again.
