As Southwest Florida continues to grow, so does Southwest Florida International Airport and there are new shops and restaurants coming to RSW airport in Fort Myers.

We're so lucky living in Fort Myers that we have an airport right here to fly out of. It's so convenient being so close with affordable parking and short TSA lines. While sometimes the flight options are cheaper and more direct out of larger airports, there's something be said for a flight option that's only 20 minutes away. We all know that our area is growing at a rapid pace, so the airport is adjusting as well, adding new shops and restaurants over the next few years.

They always recommend for a flight to get there early: 2 hours for a domestic flight and 3 for international. But when you get through TSA in a matter of minutes, how do you fill the rest of your time? If you're lucky you can fall asleep sitting up in the chairs. You can read a book or people watch. Or find some fun shops to browse or a fun bar or restaurant to grab a bite and a beer.

In fact, just recently Fort Myers Brewing Co. opened a bar and restaurant, plus 2 gift shops, A Day at the Beach and Relay, plus a Norman Love chocolate shop. Another shop, Seaside Mercantile is due to open next month and 2 Great American Bagel shops are pending as well.

Over the next 2 years, there will be some great additions to RSW airport. According to Gulfshore Business, next year we'll see the opening of Key Lime Bistro, Starbucks, The Boat House or Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille, Popeyes chicken, Shula Burger and Stellar. The following year, in 2026, Sanibel Market, Coastal Expressions, Ford’s Garage, Starbucks, Gulf Coast Provisions and Air Margaritaville will open.
