In Florida, you hear stories all the time about snakes and alligators, not kangaroos, but one rogue kangaroo was finally caught after being on the loose for 3 weeks.
When you think of kangaroos, you definitely don't think of they hopping around in the Sunshine State. I always love seeing and being able to interact with them at Busch Gardens in Tampa. I also visited in a place in Boynton Beach where I was able to get up close with them. But it's not a normal sight to see one hopping through your backyard, that's for sure. But that could've happened over the last few weeks. There was a kangaroo that went rogue that was finally caught.
Rogue Kangaroo Caught After 3 Weeks In Florida
This rogue kangaroo went missing in Volusia County back on October 17 when the owner said there was a bear entering it's enclosure. Well, that was one smart roo to sense that potential danger was lurking and it had to get out of there. This kangaroo was a pet up in Volusia County, which is legal with a permit. This kangaroo though, went on a grand adventure over the last 3 weeks.
When I first heard that kangaroo was missing, right away I was worried about how it would survive on it's own, forgetting that kangaroos are wild animals. And what it would eat without being fed by it's owner. The good news, is that they feed mainly on grasses, leaves, flowers and fruit and occasionally snacking on insects, so being in Florida especially, that was no problem.
UPI reports the kangaroo was spotted around 8am on Wednesday and both the owner and officials with FWC responded to the scene where the roo was safely captured and returned home.
