Charlotte County Evacuations Issued For Hurricane Milton

More hurricane evacuation orders coming down for Southwest Floridians. Here is the latest information. Charlotte County evacuations issued for Hurricane Milton effective immediately.

Charlotte County Emergency Management has issued evacuation orders for residents in Red Zone-A and Orange Zone-B. The evacuation also includes residents in any zone living in mobile and manufactured homes.

If you are not sure what zone you are in, click here to confirm so you can be safe.

The barrier islands are included in Red Zone-A evacuations. Keep in mind that when the islands are evacuated, Charlotte County Fire and EMS Station 10 staff are required to evacuate as well. That means there are no helicopters or ground help available during the storm.

This is one another important reason for you to evacuate. Very little, if no help, will be available to you if you decide to ride it out. Shelters are also being opened to help you find a place to go if you can't stay with friends or family.

A few things to remember as you are preparing to leave. First, secure your home before you leave. Next, be sure to take essential items for all family members. Some of those items include:

  • Personal Items
  • Clothing
  • Baby Supplies
  • Pet Supplies
  • Cash
