Time to Hit The NFL Panic Button in Jacksonville
It is time to hit the panic button in Jacksonville. The Jaguars are a hot mess following Monday night’s embarrassing 47-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Head coach Doug Pederson, who once won a Super Bowl with quarterback Nick Foles and the Eagles, says there have to be changes after an 0-3 start and that may include starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence. At this point “everything is on the table” according to Pederson.
Since the Jags first half in the season’s opening game vs the Dolphins, they have managed only 23 points. And they have only converted 5 of 27 third down opportunities. At times, when Lawrence throws the ball one has to wonder where he is attempting to put it. He is completing a woeful 48 percent of his passes and has one touchdown.
PANIC BUTTON IN JACKSONVILLE
Here is why it is time to hit the panic button in Jacksonville because the news gets worse. The Jags have lost 8 straight games Lawrence has started dating back to last year’s collapse. In fact, for those who like math, Lawrence hasn’t won a start in over 300 days.
Lawrence seems to be wilting under the pressure of his new 5 year contract extension which will pay him $55 million dollars a year. That figure ties Joe Burrow as the highest paid annual salary in the NFL.
The good news for Lawrence and the Jaguars is they have some “winnable” games coming up. Their schedule is @Texans, Colts (who never win in Jacksonville) and Patriots.
