How many nicknames do you have for your pet? If you're anything like me, it's hard to keep track of all of them!
Honestly, I think I rarely call my dog by his name! I'm always using one of his many many nicknames. He has to be in a lot of trouble in order for me to call him "Farley" other than that it's usually a cute term of endearment. Are you the same way or am I a weirdo?
Do You Use A Lot Of Nicknames For Your Pet?
It doesn't matter if you're a dog person or a cat person--you can even be a fan of lizards or snakes--you probably have a couple of nicknames you use for your pet. Some of these nicknames might be puns, they might be based on something they do, or just nonsense. Likewise, you might use some of these nicknames all the time in public, or they might be embarrassing and you only use them at home. Admittedly, I have several of those. My girlfriend is always embarrassed when I mention them in public, where others can hear and judge.
It's just like how we all have our "pet voices" that we use when talking to our pets. We'd never in a million years talk to our friends or co-workers that way. In fact, we'd probably be mortified if anyone outside of our home heard us using these voices. Where do they come from? Why do we do it?
It's something we're all guilty of, I'm sure. However, do you use as many nicknames for your pet as I do? It's a hard call. I feel like I'm making up a new one every day. It's a trial and error thing, sometimes they stick and other times they're a one-and-done nickname. It can be tough because you pick out a name before you really get to know the pet and its personality--sometimes even before you meet them at all! So, often nicknames are obtained once you learn about them and their little quirks that make them unique.
How many nicknames do you have for your pet? I've got at least 14 that I'll share in the Instagram video below. Poor guy doesn't know what he's called anymore, probably.
