Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow plays piano to rehab his throwing wrist coming off season ending surgery. He says he always wanted to learn how to play and he began playing recently to help his wrist heal as he gets ready for the 2024 NFL season.
This might be a bad sign.
Quarterbacks named Joey who play piano don't do well in the NFL. Don't believe me? Exhibit A: Joey Harrington arrived in the NFL in 2002 after a great college career with the Oregon Ducks. The Detroit Lions took him with the 3rd overall pick in the draft. He was a better piano player than quarterback. Seriously, he was a classical pianist. Meanwhile, Harrington never saw a second contract with the Lions and he bounced around the league with one year deals with the Dolphins, Falcons, and Saints before retiring.
JOE BURROW PLAYS PIANO
Back to Burrow. He says in one year he will be great at piano. We have no doubt he will be. He is also great at quarterback...when he plays. Burrow's career has been riddled with the injury bug since winning a national championship at LSU prior to joining the Bengals.
Thus far he has had a season ending knee injury, a season ending wrist injury and a bothersome calf strain. But when healthy he led the Bengals to a Super Bowl appearance. So, while Joe Burrow plays piano to get ready for the 2024 season, Bengals fans are ready for a big year.
