On a rainy Wednesday morning in Immokalee, the Collier County Sheriff's Office arrested 43-year-old Romeo Gabriel-Lopez for animal cruelty. According to NBC2, It was pouring rain, and poor Robo, a young bully terrier, was stuck in a doghouse that was flooded up to two feet deep, tied to a pole like he was in some kind of prison.
Thankfully, detectives rolled up to Gabriel-Lopez's home to rescue him. They found Robo practically swimming in his so-called shelter. Meanwhile, the county was getting slammed with rain, under tornado and flood watches. Basically, it was the perfect storm, and Robo was caught right in the middle of it.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office Arrest:
Gabriel-Lopez wasn’t home, probably doing who knows what, but the Collier County Sheriff's Office detectives managed to reach him on the phone. He must’ve realized the jig was up because he agreed to surrender Robo without much fuss. Later on, after putting together all the pieces of this soggy puzzle, deputies came back and slapped the cuffs on Gabriel-Lopez.
It's insane how someone could leave their dog in such a horrible situation. I mean, we’re talking about a young pup, not some kind of fish. Thankfully, the authorities stepped in, rescuing Robo from his waterlogged nightmare.
Gabriel-Lopez now faces charges for failing to provide adequate shelter and for illegally tethering his dog. Props goes out to the Collier County Sheriff's Office for stepping in and helping Robo. It's a sad reality check on how some people treat their pets. I hope that litte Robo finds a better home where he can stay warm, dry and free from being tied up and alone.
