2 Stupid Plays Cost Mavericks Game 3
2 stupid plays cost the Mavericks Game 3 of the NBA Finals and, in turn, probably cost them a chance at an NBA Championship. In the end the Celtics went up 3-0 in the series after their 106-99 win Wednesday night.
But the game was very winnable for the Mavericks. First of all, we had a Kyrie Irving sighting. It was clearly his best game in weeks. He scored 35 points and made his first 4 three-pointers in this series. Until now it seemed like Luka Doncic was playing all by himself. In Game 3 he “only” scored 27 points and had an off night behind the arc, shooting just 1-7.
STUPID PLAYS COST MAVERICKS
But with 4:12 remaining in the game and the Mavs down 93-90, Doncic, playing with 5 fouls tried to take a charge 20 feet from the basket. He was not set and got called for a foul and fouled out. The Mavs would have to go the rest of the game without its best player. What a dumb play!
One minute later, the Mavs still down by three, with the ball and a chance to tie the game, commit an offensive foul and give up a possession. PJ Washington got nailed for a moving screen… in the BACKCOURT! How stupid was that? So 2 stupid plays cost Mavericks Game 3!
Boneheaded plays like these cost the Mavs a chance to win the game and stay alive in the series. Tune in for more analysis and opinion on Craig Shemon and Company on ESPN Southwest Florida from 2-6!
