Breeze Airways has been making news in travel circles lately. The airline has steadily been expanding flights to and from Southwest Florida as well as markets across the United States. Today, there is yet another announcement and it is a fairly substantial one. Breeze Airways opens a new Breeze base at RSW in Fort Myers.
Having RSW as a base means that Breeze will now overnight some of its aircraft. In addition, the airport will be a crew base for pilots and flight attendants. The airport in Southwest Florida is the airline's ninth base of operations nationally and the third one in Florida. The other two Sunshine State bases are Orlando and Tampa.
Additional bases around the country include Charleston, SC; Hartford, CT; New Orleans, LA; Norfolk, VA; Providence, and RI; Provo, UT. I still have not flown this airline but have friends who rave about it. Maybe it's time for a quick trip to New Orleans for a little weekend fun?
About new Breeze base at RSW
“Breeze’s operations from Fort Myers have proven exceptionally popular,” said Breeze President Tom Doxey. “It’s been one of our fastest growing airports, now reaching 19 destinations in less than two years, thanks in large part to our close partnership with the team at Southwest Florida International Airport."
Last week Breeze announced four new flights from Fort Myers beginning this fall. As Doxey said, with the latest additions the airline now offers 19 destinations from RSW to cities across the US. To find those destinations, check prices and availability, click here.
The airline uses Embraer 190/195 and Airbus A220-300 aircraft. They are known for affordability and no change or cancellation fees, among other things. Watch for sales and fare deals for summer travel.
