The Masters is Coming after March Madness

The Masters is coming

Jon Rahm of Spain poses with the Masters trophy during the Green Jacket Ceremony after winning the 2023 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club on April 09, 2023 in Augusta, Georgia.

The Masters is coming!  Every March, during the NCAA Tournament, Masters broadcaster CBS starts airs its tantalizing promos that the Masters is coming as soon as March Madness names a new champion for college basketball.  CBS actually begins airing those spots, full of color and catchy music in December during NFL football in the dead of winter.

The Masters is my favorite golf tournament in the world.  I like it better than the Open or the PGA Championship or the Ryder Cup.  There is something very unique about this stand alone golf tournament that is unmatched by any other golf event.

It was on this day in 1934 that the first Masters concluded with Horton Smith winning.  It was actually called the Augusta National Invitational back then and there was no national television coverage.  Who could have imagined what the Masters would have turned into today?

It's never too early to dust off some Masters trivia questions on Craig Shemon and Company on ESPN Southwest Florida so tune in today and test your knowledge!  Good luck!

One of our favorite pastimes in Masters Week is to check out what's going on with all the patrons on the grounds at Augusta National. Masters patrons photos.

The hats, the outfits, the joy, the heartbreak. It all plays out visually with massive crowds at the most beautiful golf course in the world.

This year made for some slim pickings when it comes to patrons photos, and that's largely because of one thing: Weather. Thursday was about the only day that everyone was feeling their best. The rest of the time, we've had some combination of wind, rain, cold or trees falling.

But nonetheless, we found some great visuals, and we want to share them with you now. Here's the 18 best photos from the 2023 Masters patrons at Augusta National.
