Business travelers understand airports in ways that the rest of us will never understand. Because of their lifestyle, they spend a lot of time in them. Every airport is different, and they all have plusses and minuses. The Charlotte airport has their rocking chairs. Chicago O'Hare has that cool light tunnel. If you like Popeye's Chicken, you should always hit up the location in the Atlanta airport. It's the best. Want to visit a cool little brewpub? Columbus, Ohio. What do we have in the Sunshine State? Well, a Florida airport was voted the worst in the country. Soooo.....
The team at businessfinancing sought out to find the best and worst airports in the world. "we collated all passenger reviews for major international airports from Airline Quality and calculated the average rating from reviewers categorised as “business travellers.” The last step was to rank the top-rated airports."
Ranking highest on their list is Chicago's Midway Airport with an average rating of 4.37. Although O’Hare International is the main airport there, Midway is looked upon very favorably with business travelers. And now the lowest:
Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport
The airport has an average rating of 1.64, making it the worst in America and the fourth worst in the world. That's right, FLL is the Florida airport voted the worst in the U.S. One reviewer noted on the site their reasoning for a low review " in the last 2 years (maybe even more) the airport waiting times keep increasing, no matter the airline or even the hour that you travel there is always a delay, not a 15 min delay, this is a minimum of one hour.” Weather comes into play with the delays. If you recall, last year the airport was shut down due to flooding.
The other Florida airport mentioned in the article found itself on the "best" side.
Miami International had a score of 2.70, ranking it the 8th best in the country in this study. Quite a difference in their rankings considering the airports are only 27 miles apart. RSW here in Fort Myers was not mentioned in the study. We probably don't see enough business travel to qualify.
5 Florida Airports Rank As Worst For Lost Luggage In US
Vacations and travel are supposed to be fun right? What could be worse then getting to your destination to find that your luggage has been lost? No one wants to wear their plane clothes any longer than they have to.
Unfortunately, it's happening all too often across the United States and apparently, especially here in Florida.
I've been a victim of lost luggage in the past and it just plain sucks. That's all there is to it. We spend so much time packing and planning, to make sure we've got everything we need for a trip. Then to find out you've got nothing, and don't know when or if your stuff will ever reach you. UGH! Super frustrating.
With summer in full motion, the crew over at Forbes, put together a list of the worst airports in the country for lost luggage.
In order to complete the list Forbes Advisor compared the nation’s 100 busiest airports using TSA data across four metrics.
The worst airport for lost luggage isn't in Florida. Phew! Taking the number one spot is John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. Also among the top 10 worst were Los Angeles, Norfolk, Boston, Harry Reid in Vegas, Newark, Daniel K. Inouye in Honolulu and Dulles in Washington DC. You can read the full study completed by Forbes here.
