Some big unexpected news dropped this week that none of us saw coming. Taylor Swift announced a new album. Between a world tour and being the Kansas City Chiefs number one fan, she somehow found time to write and record an album. THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT is set to be released on April 19th. With the announcement, she also released the track list. Including a song about us right here in the Sunshine State. There's now a Taylor Swift 'Florida' song. With 3 exclamation points!!!
Update (4/19/24): Taylor Swift Florida is out!
This article was written back in February, now that we have the song, here's what we think it all means: The Taylor Swift Florida Song “Is One Hell of a Drug”
So what is the Taylor Swift song Florida!!! about?
And why does it feature Florence Welch from the English indie rock band "Florence + the Machine"? It's probably not a song about that time in 2007 when she played Veterans Park in Lehigh Acres, Florida. I think we can cross that off. Here's what we could come up with.
- This is the most common fan theory on the internet. Tampa was Taylor's first show after her breakup with Joe Alwyn. She changed the setlist during the concert and still put on an amazing show while coming to terms with the end of her 6 year relationship. Since it appears Joe was on her mind while writing this album, this seems the most likely.
- Here's a different direction, and this theory would make for a completely different song. The guy that's tracking her jet and making the info public is in Florida. This allows anyone to know exactly where Taylor is and - he goes to UCF. Taylor's lawyers have sent him a cease and desist and have threatened legal action if he does not stop his 'stalking and harassing behavior'. Taylor has had a lot of problems with stalkers, and I'm sure having this info on the internet is disturbing to her. But would she write this in a song?
- Her tour schedule. Taylor is currently bouncing around between world tour, watching NFL games, and studio time. Those long flights come to an end after her August 20th show in London. Her first show back in the United States is in Miami on October 18th. Is she just calling out Florida because it'll be nice to cut down on the travel? Like a welcome home celebration?
It's likely we won't know what the Taylor Swift 'Florida' song is about until the album drops.
Until then, it's just theories. But it is pretty cool that she mentioned us on her track listing. Thanks!
3 Of The Best Pizzerias In The World Are In Florida
When it comes to good pizza around the world, the competition is fierce but 3 of the best pizzerias in the world are right here in Florida.
Pizza is a favorite food for many. I used to love Friday nights when I was growing up. It was pizza night (and also the night we could have pop with dinner!) Put on a little TGIF and the night was complete. Growing up in Chicago, I am partial to a good thin crust loaded up with toppings, but a deep dish sometimes hits the spot. We have a lot of good pizza here in SWFL. Chicago Pizza in Cape Coral is one of my favorites, they do it right! But whatever you love about pizza, when it comes to the very best, the competition is fierce. So it's pretty impressive that 3 of the best pizzerias in the entire world are right here in Florida.
3 Of The Best Pizzerias In The World Are In Florida
50 Top Pizza put together their rankings of the best pizza in the world. They sent in anonymous inspectors to pizzerias around the world (how do I get that job?!). They looked at a variety of things like the quality of the products used, customer care and decision making to name a few. The guide ranked the top 100 best pizza spots and while the majority of them are in Europe, there's pizzerias that made the list here in the US, Asia and the Middle East
You can check out the full list here. Below is where the Florida spots ranked.
