Amazon Sells Caskets And The Reviews Didn’t Disappoint

Religion, death and dolor - funeral and cemetery; funeral with coffin

Now you can be casket ready... at a bargain. If you haven’t stumbled upon it already, Amazon sells caskets. They’re not the first to sell affordable caskets. In 2017, Market Watch reported that Costco has some of the cheapest options when it comes to purchasing a casket for a funeral.

A casket is a huge funeral expense. According to Lincoln Heritage Life Insurance Company, the average cost of a casket ranges between $2,000 to $5,000. They suggest that shopping for your own items like caskets or urns can be a way to cut down the costs of a funeral.

Amazon offers competitive prices on caskets with online retailers specializing in them. The online retailer offers caskets starting at $1,000. Some even have an overnight option. Before you get too excited, Amazon isn’t the one shipping the caskets. So, no, there are no Prime member perks of free returns or shipping. They're actually being shipped from a small business called Titan Casket. In 2021, the funeral services company launched the casket category for Sam's Club as their first casket supplier, followed by a military line on Costco.com, then Amazon.

Amazon Caskets Commentary & Reviews

So, how are the caskets? The caskets come in different styles and colors, from high gloss finishes to adjustable beds. Interestingly, many of the caskets have 4-to-4.5-star reviews. As far as the reviews left by purchases, they didn’t disappoint. One reviewer raved about the affordability of the casket. "I buried my husband a few days ago," they said. "The 'comfy blue couch' was so much cheaper than what funeral homes charge. I highly recommend purchasing one through Amazon," they continued.

There were some very animated reviews too. Someone praised the casket for its "pretty color" and shine. However, they continued to say that the sides fell apart during the ceremony and that their "gramma done rolled out the coffin." They wrote, "The fall made her wake up and she tried to breakdance. It broke her back and killed her again so now we have to buy ANOTHER casket to bury her AGAIN. But I will buy another one from here because it is shiny."

Amazon's casket category reads, "Delivering Peace of Mind" and apparently entertaining reviews too.
