People Are Relocating to These Florida Cities at Record Pace
It’s a new year, and sometimes, that means it might be a good time to pick up your life and start fresh somewhere else. That might sound a bit drastic. But, I’ve had a few friends mark a new year by moving. So, where should you move? Well, Americans are flocking to some cities and moving away from others. As it turns out, people are relocating to some Florida cities at a record pace.
The new study comes from U-Haul. In it, they’ve released their U-Haul Growth Index, featuring top growth cities for 2023. They note that, “U-Haul is the authority on migration trends thanks to its expansive network that blankets all 50 states and 10 Canadian provinces. The geographical coverage from 23,000 U-Haul truck- and trailer-sharing locations provides a broad overview of where people are moving like no one else in the industry.” It’s true that when it comes to moving, U-Haul really knows their stuff.
Let’s get into it. The city that the most Americans are moving to right now is Palm Bay-Melbourne, Florida. Actually, the U-Haul Growth Index marked seven Florida markets among the top 25 growth cities in 2023. So, people are still moving to the Sunshine state, likely for retirement. The No. 2 city is also from Florida with Ocala. Actually, Ocala was No. 1 in 2022, so it slipped a little this year. Charleston-North Charleston, South Carolina, is No. 3 on the list.
Other Florida cities that made the cut are Sarasota-Bradenton at No. 4, Kissimmee-St. Cloud at No. 11, North Port at No. 13 and Lakeland at No. 21. U-Haul does add that, “While U-Haul migration trends do not correlate directly to population or economic growth, the U-Haul Growth Index is an effective gauge of how well states and cities are attracting and maintaining residents.” Find the full list of the cities that Americans are moving to here.
