Man Breaks Into Florida Apartment to Make a Screwdriver Cocktail
Heading up the street to my local Cape Coral Publix for a screwdriver cocktail fix is a no-brainer. The convenience is unbeatable, and who doesn’t love a quick stroll for a cocktail? However, the idea of swiping ingredients from a neighbor’s house closer by just for a drink is, well, downright silly.
Take this mystery Florida man in Polk County as an example of stupidity. This guy decided to make his own cocktail by breaking into an apartment. Now there’s no information about WHO he is. But my guess is that he’s someone that lives nearby. According to FOX35, the beverage bandit struck in late November in the early morning hours. The suspect wandered into an unlocked door after he tried a few others unsuccessfully, and finally hit the jackpot.
Screwdriver Cocktail Crime:
The guy, not bothering with a liquor store, casually walked out with a bottle of Svedka vodka and a carton of orange juice. Not a bad choice for making the perfect screwdriver cocktail. This dude wasn’t going to waste his time at a fancy bar. He wanted a DIY approach. However, it is really illegal.
The victim, caught off guard, admitted the door was rarely used and didn’t realize it was unlocked. Which is totally understandable. Okay. We get it. I never use my door. I enter through my home’s window. It makes me feel like Spider-Man. There’s nothing weird about that. Right?
Now, Polk County deputies are seeking help. If anyone recognizes this unconventional bartender, they’re asked to call 863-577-1600.

I’m an Aquarius and my cocktail is a Verde Margarita. However, over the weekend I was hanging out with one of my Aries friends. Their cocktail pairing is Bloody Maria, a riff on the Bloody Mary. I never really thought about putting tequila in this brunch cocktail instead of vodka. However, it worked brilliantly. The key is using a good, pure tasting blanco or silver tequila such as PATRON.

1 Pinch salt
Celery spear & edible flower for garnish
Sugar, maldon salt & celery salt rim
Rim a highball glass with a mix of sugar, maldon salt & celery salt. Combine ingredients in a blender with crushed ice and blend until a slushy consistency is achieved. Pour contents from blender into glass.Garnish with celery spear and edible flower before a well-deserved siesta.
Pisces-Silver Wings

2 oz Patrón Silver
.5 oz Maraschino liqueur

Combine all ingredients in a mixing tin with ice. Shake and strain up into a coupe. Garnish with a lime peel.

5 oz Bloody Mary Mix*

Combine ingredients in a mixing tin or pint glass and “roll” the drink by pouring it back and forth between the two. Strain onto fresh ice in a collins glass. If you like, rim the glass with kosher salt or a specially spiced rim of your choosing.
Garnish with a lemon wedge and celery stalk.

4 oz Tomato juice
.5 oz Fresh lemon juice
Dash each of Worcestershire sauce and Tabasco
1 tsp Horseradish (optional)
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste

Combine all ingredients (including 4 of the cucumber slices) in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously with ice to chill. Strain onto fresh ice in a highball glass. Garnish with remaining 3 cucumbers.
