Bengals and Jaguars on Monday Night Football
Tonight features the Bengals and Jaguars on Monday Night Football. Both franchises are in the middle of interesting seasons for two different reasons. First of all, the Cincinnati Bengals bring a disappointing 5-6 record into tonight’s game. This team had Super Bowl aspirations but their superstar quarterback Joe Burrow has been injured. Given the fact that the AFC North is a brutally tough division, there’s not much hope for this year’s team.
Meanwhile, the Jacksonville Jaguars roll into tonight’s game as 10 point favorites with their 8-3 record. There is nothing surprising here. Their season is going just as many believed it would. In fact, the most surprising part of their season thus far is that they can’t shake the Indianapolis Colts and the Houston Texans in the standings. But, quarterback Trevor Lawrence, an up-and-coming superstar in the NFL, has yet to really explode statistically this season. He has just 12 touchdown passes and 7 interceptions. But winning make the stats less important.
BRIGHT FUTURES
Both of these franchises have had unique histories in the NFL. First of all, the Bengals have been long time losers. But they have periodically risen to the occasion and been in three Super Bowls. A healthy Joe Burrow brightens their future prospects significantly. As for the Jaguars, they are relative newcomers, having joined the league in in 1995. With Trevor Lawrence at the helm, this franchise has an equally bright future.
