If you've ever dreamed of living on your own private island, there's one in the Florida Keys that has hit the market for $2.5 million.

Even though I live in paradise here in Fort Myers, sometimes I dream of what it would be like to have my own private island. I went out over the weekend to do some shopping and it didn't last long because there were way too many people. So a private island, while there wouldn't be stores to shop at, would definitely have a lot less going on. But seriously, picture waking up each morning to the sun rising over the water. Taking a stroll on a beach where the only footprints left are your own. Where your morning commute involves jumping on a boat, a paddleboard or a kayak and your only neighbors are dolphins and manatees. I feel like private island life is a life for me.

If island life is for you too, there's a private island for sale in the Keys. This island was actually featured on HGTV back in 2014 on a show called Buying the Beach. Pretty Joe Rock is officially on the market for $2.5 million. And while it's private, Marathon is just a quick boat ride away offering plenty of options for shopping and dining. It does come with a private dock, however the house that was on it was destroyed in a hurricane in 2017. But the new owners will have over 4,000 square feet to build onto. The perk though, unusual for a private island, is that there is electricity and access to city water.

One Florida Hotel Is Among The Most Expensive In America

When it comes to luxury accommodations, the sky is the limit when it comes to the price per night and one Florida hotel is among the most expensive in America.

When I travel, the type of hotel I stay in really depends on how much time I plan on spending there and what amenities I plan on using. I took myself on a little getaway up to Clearwater Beach a few months ago and went with a higher-end resort so I could take advantage of the bars/restaurants, bike & kayak rentals, the complimentary beach chairs and the rooftop pool. When I go to Disney, I like to stay on property so I can use the park transportation and get in an hour early, plus all their properties are so gorgeous. But if I’m only going for one night, like I did last week, I just stayed at a cheap motel, it was just a place to crash for the night. I think I spent a total of 10 hours there total.
