After Craig's Power Rankings of Halloween Candy went horribly wrong, we decided to put this one in your hands. Let's take a look at the Thanksgiving Sides Power Rankings as voted on by our ESPN SWFL Texter family.
We'll do the top 10. If you're a cream corn fan, that narrowly missed out at a close number 11.
Thanksgiving Sides Power Rankings
10. Stuffing. It's such a fixture that no Thanksgiving would be complete without it. Unless you put raisins in your stuffing. Then it can go straight to the trash.
9. Marijuana. When I saw a couple of texts come in mentioning this I thought it was a joke. But then enough votes came in to put it at number 9.
8. Wild Turkey. yeah, yeah, ya'll got jokes. But honestly, imagine making it through Thanksgiving Day surrounded by family - sober.
7. Cranberry Sauce. And it was noted more than once that real cranberries are preferred. Not that abomination that comes from a can. Also, save back some of this so you can make the Thanksgiving Sandwich on Friday.
6. Sweet Potato Casserole. I'm so on the fence with this one. I've had it and it's great, and I've had some that was inedible. I think the key is, who's making it.
4. (tie) Mashed Potatoes. Good mashed potatoes is not about being a stand alone, the flavor needs to blend well with everything else. A true team player.
4. (tie) Yams. Yes, yams and sweet potatoes are different. And if you get those candies yams just right it's almost like a desert and a side all in one.
3. Green Bean Casserole. That container of French's Crispy Fried Onions has been waiting in the cupboard for this day. Give it a heavy pour.
2. Mac n' Cheese. For Thanksgiving, it's mandatory that this be baked as a casserole. Use more than one cheese and cook it until it's crispy on the ends.
1. Deviled Eggs. This was never on my Thanksgiving table growing up, but now it's one of my faves. Deviled eggs is the definition of "I'll just have one more." Chris has a good 'deviled eggs' story.
If you're not sure what I mean on that Mac n' Cheese description, here, make it just like this woman tells you to do.
Finally, a thank you to our ESPN SWFL Texter family for this year's Thanksgiving Sides Power Rankings. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
